May, it turns out, is devoted to a slew of health-related causes, including raising awareness about asthma and spring/summertime allergies. While practising Bikram Yoga can help alleviate some symptoms of asthma and certain seasonal allergic reactions (like congestion, for instance), if you suffer from either condition (or both!) there are certain factors you should consider before heading into the hot room.
We’re taking questions from students! If you have a question about Bikram Yoga that you’d like us to answer, just leave a comment below this post or on our Facebook Page. You can even email us or ask your question on Twitter!
This new series of blog posts features tips and tricks by teachers and students, each of whom has mastered a specific posture in the Bikram Yoga series! Think of it as an “insider’s guide” to doing the poses – each week you’ll learn something new that will help you advance your own practice!
As the weather warms up it can be tempting to skip the studio to get your daily dose of heat outside instead. But stepping up your practice during the summer months can actually reap amazing rewards – benefits that aren’t available in winter. Here are some of the best reasons to maintain (and maximize!) your Bikram Yoga routine this summer!
Looking for a way to keep your mat clean and smelling fresh every time you unroll it in the hot room? In honour of Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 13), we’re profiling amazing Bikram Yoga moms and their kids. For Leanne (a registered clinical counsellor and 55 years young!) and daughters Andi (a 27-year-old public health worker) and Lesley (a 24-year-old UBC student), the hot room is a chance to stretch together, de-stress together and, most importantly, support each other and celebrate together.
Most of us can remember (or can’t forget) the person who taught our very first Bikram Yoga class. That first instructor tends to make a huge impression – so we’re asking, which teacher took your Bikram Yoga virginity, and what do you remember about him/her? Let us know by leaving a comment after this post and you’ll be entered to win a BYV Five-Class Card or a Yogitoes Towel!
