Hydration
Drinking lots of water and making sure you are hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your health

It is important to drink plenty of water the entire day before and after you come to class. Also, we recommend bringing a bottle of water to each class. The amount of water one should drink is dependent on body weight.

Typically a good formula is to take your body weight and divide by 2. This is how many ounces of water you should consume daily. For example a 140 pound woman would need to consume 140 lb/2 = 70 oz. 64 oz, or half of a gallon. Seem like a lot?

Remember our bodies are mostly water. Being fully hydrated helps take pressure off of organs to do their jobs and helps flush the body and keep it running smoothly.

  • Good hydration reduces the risk of disease.

  • It enhances your mental clarity, you can focus more easily and your short term memory is improved.

  • Drinking lots of water improves digestion, allowing your body to properly process and eliminate waste and distribute nutrients.

  • Your skin is softer and glows with health and hydration, hydrated skin looks more plump which tightens the skin texture and improves the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin.

  • If you are already thirsty, then you are already dehydrated! The better hydrated you keep your body, the easier it is for your body to distribute water throughout. Thus all of your inner organs and cells will receive the benefits of hydration.

  • Good hydration has been shown to relieve back and joint pain for many sufferers.

  • Drinking water helps to control your weight as thirst is often mistaken for hunger.
